What to look for in a replacement
- Import. If you exported your Pocket list before the deadline, check the app can import that file.
- Where you read. Phone app, browser, e-reader or all three.
- Organizing vs. reading. Some tools are built for filing links away, others for reading them. Many people end up with a big list and little time.
Saving isn't the hard part. Reading is.
Spritz Reader isn't a full Pocket replacement. It doesn't import your Pocket list or sync saved links the way a read-later app does. It solves a different problem: getting through the things you saved.
Paste an article or drop in a PDF and it streams the text one word at a time, at a speed you set. Your eyes stay in one place, so it's easier to keep going without drifting or rereading. With the Chrome extension you can right-click any web page to read it the same way. Many people pair it with one of the apps above: save there, then read the long pieces here.
Your first 3 texts are free, no account needed. Pro is $4.99 a month or $55 a year for unlimited reading, a saved library and AI summaries.
